Renovation at the Begumpet Kendra

Hyderabad Dhyana Kendra situated in the heart of twin cities in the plush area of Begumpet, is surrounded by large commercial complexes and close to the metro station of Prakash Nagar. The building in approximately 1000 sq. yards of prime land, originally belonged to a retired army dentist, Col Nayyar who was a widower. He started a meditation group in 1975 which gradually grew over the years.

The initial group met in the ground floor which could accommodate not more than 20-25 devotees. As the numbers grew, the then committee, with Sri I.P Shah as the Secretary, decided to have a basic meditation hall on the first floor. It was in the year 1996 that the first floor meditation hall, which could accommodate about 100 devotees, was constructed. The roof was made of basic asbestos sheets.

Post the death of Sri Nayyar in 2010, the property was bequeathed to YSS in his will. Due some legal implications, in all these years the renovation included only the repair of the roof which used to seep water whenever there were rains; bathroom renovation and other minor repairs. This is the first time that some major renovation has been taken up after the court clearance, that the property now belonged to YSS.

The pathway from the main gate to the door step was uneven and many devotees found themselves falling by tripping or losing ground due to the narrow path. The managing committee decided that there should be a better pathway and if possible we can level the ground to enable smoother area to effectively perform our Energization Exercises.

Sri Raju took up the task of renovation and in a month's time the following improvements achieved:

  • Pathways from North Gate were expanded from 4 feet to 6 feet and good quality tiles were laid.
  • The gate opposite the car garage was closed and the height of the ground was raised to prevent water stagnation.
  • Borewell and sump motor are shifted towards the wall, to make more open space.
  • An MS door has been fixed to the store room
  • A single brick is laid for the pathways and plants
  • All grown up plants were shifted so that there is clear ground for movement and exercises.
  • All the Tandur stones that were removed, have been used by laying them at the back side.

The cost of the project is approximately Rupees 90,000/-
